About us

A registered charity for the third sector.

We believe essential services like accounting, IT and digital marketing should be accessible to all charities - not just those with big budgets.

Our mission

Crann Taic SCIO is a Scottish registered charity (Charity ID: SC055182). Our mission is to strengthen small and medium-sized charities and community groups by making essential back-office services affordable and accessible, so more of every pound raised is spent on the cause.

Our charitable purposes (clause 6 of our constitution)

Crann Taic SCIO will promote, advance and further charitable purposes through:

  1. 6.1.1 the advancement of citizenship or community development by way of the promotion of the effectiveness or efficiency of bodies in the charity, voluntary and third sectors and the promotion and support of local regeneration by working with local business and employers through the provision of support services to such organisations; and
  2. 6.1.2 operating as a grant-giving charity with a particular focus on supporting health charities.

How we deliver our purposes

We run three programmes: subsidised finance and accounting (bookkeeping, payroll, management accounts, annual accounts and trustee financial education); managed IT and cyber security for third sector organisations; and digital capability support including websites, Google Ad Grants management and AI automation. These services are delivered at subsidised rates to charities and community organisations across Inverclyde and Glasgow, making them more effective and efficient in delivering their own missions.

Our constitution requires that the income and property of the charity is applied solely towards the promotion of these purposes, with no part paid or transferred by way of benefit to our members or trustees. We are a two-tier SCIO of charity trustees and members, regulated by OSCR under the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005, with our principal office in Scotland.

Our organisation

Crann Taic is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) working across Inverclyde and Glasgow to support the third sector.

Our story

Crann Taic was founded by a group of people who had spent years watching charities overpay private, for-profit agencies for essential finance and digital services - money that should have been going to the causes they exist to serve.

We came together with a simple idea: build the kind of outsourcing partner charities actually deserve. One that puts the sector first, reinvests any surplus back into better services, and treats accounting, IT and digital marketing as tools for good rather than profit centres.

That's why Crann Taic exists as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation - not a limited company. Every decision we make is bound by our charitable purposes, and every hour of work goes toward strengthening another charity's mission.

Governance & trustees

Crann Taic is governed by a board of trustees who volunteer their time to steer the charity and ensure we deliver on our purposes. Our current trustees are:

  • Graham Gardiner
  • Peter Bennett
  • Robert Fraser McAlister

Full details of our trustees, charitable purposes and filings are available on the OSCR public register.

Why a registered charity?

Too often, third sector organisations have to source these services from profit-driven companies, diverting funds away from their missions. As your partner, we provide everything from finance support to IT infrastructure and Google Ad Grants management - ensuring your budget is spent on your cause, not on overheads.

Our commitment to affordable, high-quality services means no expensive agency fees. Just practical, sustainable solutions that help your charity grow.
